Rehabilitation: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy

Regaining Strength and Skill

HOME / SERVICES / REHABILITATION / PHYSICAL THERAPY, OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY, & SPEECH THERAPY

Physical Therapy helps people regain strength and motion. Whether the problem has been caused by illness, injury, or a chronic condition, physical therapists work to help you gradually regain movement and mobility. By regaining strength, you not only can do more of the activities that matter to you, but you can reduce the risk of future injuries or loss of function.

Other treatment options include dry needling and wound care. Dry needling uses thin needles to stimulate trigger points in muscles and connective tissue, helping promote recovery. Wound care helps heal wounds caused by injuries or illness. This can include burns, pressure sores, or open wounds caused by trauma. Wound care supports the body’s natural healing process.

Occupational Therapy helps people regain the skills they need to live more independently. When activities of daily living like getting dressed, using utensils, or brushing your teeth become difficult, occupational therapy can help you to regain your motor skills or help you make adaptations for greater independence. Occupational therapists can also help patients improve their hand strength and motor skills so that things like buttoning a shirt or writing a shopping list are easier to do.

Speech therapists work with people who have problems with speech. They can also help when health problems make it hard to swallow. Medical conditions such as certain types of brain injuries, some types of cancer, stroke, dementia, and other diseases can make it much harder to talk. In these situations, speech therapists can help you improve your ability to communicate.
