DHCHD Announces New General Surgeon

DALHART, TEXAS – Dallam Hartley Counties Hospital District is pleased to welcome David McNeir, MD as general surgeon at Coon Memorial Hospital. Dr. McNeir will begin performing surgeries at CMH September 19.

Dr. McNeir is joining DHCHD from his private practice in Amarillo. He is also an appointed general surgery specialist with BSA Health System and Northwest Texas Hospital.

“Dr. McNeir is the most experienced general surgeon in the Texas panhandle,” said Bleu Schniederjan, MD, a surgeon at Panhandle Weight Loss Center. “He is kind and compassionate, and one of the most experienced surgeons I have worked with.”

With more than 31 years of experience in the medical field, Dr. McNeir will be able to perform procedures like scopes, gallbladder removals, appendectomies, hernia repairs, thyroidectomies, skin lesions removals, fine needle aspirations and more, in Dalhart’s Coon Memorial Hospital.

“The range of procedures Dr. McNeir will be able to provide for our patients is a huge benefit to the community,” DHCHD CEO Kacey Schniederjan said. “Patients will no longer feel the need to make the long trip to Amarillo for these routine surgeries, and they can recover close to home.”

Dr. McNeir earned his medical degree in 1991 from Texas Tech University School of Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is certified by the American Board of Surgery. DHCHD will be hosting a meet and greet with Dr. McNeir on September 12 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the hospital lobby. All are welcome, and complimentary thyroid and CMP labs will be available for those who attend.
