DHCHD Announces New CEO, Melissa Bundy

DALHART, TEXAS – Dallam Hartley Counties Hospital District is proud to announce the appointment of Melissa Bundy as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). With nearly 24 years of comprehensive healthcare experience, including notable leadership roles, Melissa brings a wealth of expertise and a deep commitment to rural healthcare to her new position.
Prior to joining DHCHD, Melissa served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Hemphill County Hospital District, where she played a pivotal role in advancing healthcare services and operational efficiency. Her background spans various fields within the medical industry, including neurology, sleep medicine, leadership, business development, marketing, and administration.
Melissa’s journey with DHCHD began in January 2023 when she initiated a partnership on the Sleep Studies program. Her official tenure as COO commenced on March 18, 2024, marking the start of her impactful leadership within the organization. Kacey Schniederjan, outgoing CEO, will fully transition out June 1, 2024.
Commenting on her transition to CEO, Melissa stated, “I am incredibly blessed to have joined the DHCHD family as their COO and now transitioning to CEO. It is an honor to have been chosen to lead such an amazing team. I am in awe of each of the employees. They are deeply committed to providing exceptional care, without exception, and truly love the community. As someone extremely passionate about rural healthcare and servant leadership, I am committed to serving at DHCHD for many years to come. My leadership style will be guided by integrity, compassion, and innovation. Together, we will continue to fulfill our mission of serving our community with purpose and passion. Our focus will remain on providing quality healthcare to our rural communities, inspiring hope, and improving the health and well-being of every patient.”
Kacey Schniederjan expressed her confidence in Melissa’s abilities, stating, “As I transition out of my role as CEO of DHCHD, I do so with immense gratitude for the incredible journey we’ve shared together. Working alongside the amazing staff here at DHCHD has been an honor, and I am deeply proud to have been a part of such a loving, community-driven hospital. I am confident that Melissa Bundy is more than ready to step into the CEO role. With her wealth of healthcare experience and unwavering dedication to our patients, I have no doubt that she will lead DHCHD with the same passion and commitment that has defined our organization. While I depart to prioritize cherished family time, I leave knowing that the DHCHD Family is in the capable hands of Melissa as our new CEO.”
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Melissa’s personal life reflects her dedication to family, leadership, and rural healthcare. She and her husband, Beau, have been married for 18 years and are proud parents to two boys, Cason (12) and Bryson (7).
DHCHD will be hosting a meet and greet with our executive team Thursday, May 30th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Coon Memorial Hospital. All patients and community members are invited to attend.
