Dallam Hartley Counties Hospital District has received its 1st death from a positive COVID – 19 patient in our community residing in Hartley County.
County Officials and Emergency Management investigation indicated that the COVID – 19 was contracted from a positive family member. The patient has been quarantined with a positive family member since the family member tested positive. The family has been quarantined for 7 days. The patient passed in their home and was transported to Amarillo.
It is time to realize that COVID – 19 is in our community. We now have had four positive cases and one death. We believe we have not yet seen the COVID – 19 peak in our community. It is safe to assume everywhere you go and each person you pass could be a carrier of COVID – 19, with this in mind you need to take all precautions, all the time.
Under no circumstances will DHCHD violate patient privacy laws; we will not release patient information. Please do not ask DHCHD employees to release patient information, or call to ask. There will be a no-tolerance policy for harassment of staff or disrespectful social media comments. Staff harassment will be reported to the authorities, and disrespectful, prying, and questionable comments will be deleted. If the issue keeps arising, you will be blocked from the DHCHD Facebook page.
